The European badger is a nocturnal predator with a distinctive black and white face. It lives in widely ramified underground burrows, which it uses for generations. Badgers are omnivores and feed on worms, insects, fruit and small animals. Although they are usually shy, they can become surprisingly strong and defend their territory with determination.
