Here you will find an overview of the current inclusive cultural program of the Wiesbaden Cultural Office and other organizers in Wiesbaden.
Inclusion in culture means embracing diversity and giving everyone the opportunity to experience art, culture and the city's history in their own way. To achieve this, the Coordination Office for Cultural Education and Participation of the Wiesbaden Cultural Office works closely with local clubs and associations. These include the Inclusion and Accessibility Working Group.
Cultural participation should be possible for everyone - regardless of physical, sensory or cognitive limitations. Low-barrier cultural offerings create access for everyone and promote an inclusive society.
This includes, for example, guided tours of the Kunsthaus or the city archives with a report for the blind, audio description at the Caligari Cinema or the European Youth Circus, as well as announcement videos of events in sign language. Wheelchair-accessible entrances or understandable language also help to ensure that everyone can participate in culture.

Caligari FilmBühne - Cinema in Wiesbaden: Experience barrier-free films! Hearing amplification & radio loop: The Caligari is the only cinema in the region with a hearing system that allows films to be shown barrier-free. People with hearing or visual impairments can experience movies with this technical aid. Announcements and film discussions via microphone can also be heard at an individual volume via the hearing system. Receivers with headphones/radio loops can be borrowed free of charge on presentation of ID at the box office. The current Caligari program can be found on the Caligari website (opens in a new tab). Information on audio description or subtitles (UT) can be found in the film overview in the middle section of the program booklet.
Audio description: Films are regularly shown with audio description for people with visual impairments. The audio description (description of what is shown on the screen) can be heard individually using a receiver and headphones. New films increasingly have an audio description version. The Caligari tries to include films with audio description in its program every month. This is indicated in the program.
Greta & Starks: The Greta & Starks app offers an additional opportunity to experience films without barriers, with audio description or subtitles using your own smartphone. Films that can be experienced barrier-free with the app are marked in the program booklet. Before going to the cinema, install the app on your own smartphone and download the desired accessible version. When you go to the cinema, the app links to the movie you are watching and you can enjoy it in your desired version. In this case, please also bring your own headphones. You can find more information about the app at Greta & Starks (opens in a new tab)
