Height models

Wiesbaden's digital elevation model offers an elevation accuracy of approx. 10 cm on level ground. However, additional measurements are advisable for detailed planning.

The digital elevation model of the state capital of Wiesbaden covers the entire city area and enables elevation to be determined with an accuracy of around 10 centimetres in flat terrain (e.g. on roads). The data originates from a laser scanner survey carried out in March 2017 and is provided as height points in a regular grid (e.g. 1.0 m, 2.0 m, 5.0 m). Breaklines such as embankments or walls are not recorded separately.

The 1-meter elevation model (DHM-1) forms the basis for the contour lines interpolated from it. In areas with dense development, strong topography or lush vegetation, however, larger deviations can occur. The model alone is not sufficient for detailed planning - e.g. for determining bed heights. It is advisable to check the local conditions and carry out additional measurements if necessary.

All elevation data is output in heights above mean sea level (MSL). The Civil Engineering and Surveying Office provides the digital elevation models for the entire city of Wiesbaden. Anyone using them for construction projects and planning should always take into account the possible measurement deviations and the respective data quality in order to ensure proper use.
