Since 01.11.2024, the law on self-determination with regard to gender entry (SBGG) has come into force. This means that it is now possible to change the gender entry and first name in the register of births by making a personal declaration to the registry office.

Before you can make a personal declaration at the registry office, the change request must be registered.

This has been possible in writing since August 1, 2024.

Please use the form for the written registration of your change request and the information sheet.

After a 3-month period, the personal declaration can then be submitted to the registry office and the change request entered in the register of births.

This service is also offered at the local administrative offices.
