Hunting license
Hunting licenses are only issued to residents of the state capital Wiesbaden.
Anyone wishing to go hunting in Hesse must be at least 16 years old and require a German hunting license. The prerequisite for this is a hunting examination passed in Germany.
The hunting license is valid throughout Germany.
Persons who have reached the age of 16 but are not yet 18 may only be issued a youth hunting license. A youth hunting license only entitles the holder to hunt if the young person is accompanied by a legal guardian or an accompanying person with hunting experience. The youth hunting license does not entitle the holder to participate in group hunts. As soon as the young person reaches the age of majority, they are entitled to a regular hunting license without further examination.
Persons who are not German nationals can apply for an annual hunting license from the lower hunting authority responsible for their place of residence.
