Violinist, Writer
born: 25.07.1890 in Milan
died: 09.05.1957 in Wiesbaden
Zschinsky-Troxler studied music in Milan and Leipzig. Her teachers included Max Reger and Carl Flesch (1873-1944). She then made a name for herself as a violin virtuoso and music writer. After her marriage to the police commissioner Georg Freiherr von Zschinsky (1880-1959), she studied literature and languages in Leipzig and received her doctorate in 1939 with a thesis on the violinist and composer Gaetano Pugnani (1731-1798).
The couple moved to Wiesbaden after her husband's transfer in 1942. On May 22, 1951, Zschinsky-Troxler founded the Società Dante Alighieri in Wiesbaden. Its first president was State Director Heinrich Köhler-Helffrich. With her educational trips, concerts and lectures, she drew the attention of Germans to Italy in the post-war period. She repeatedly succeeded in attracting well-known artists and academics to the society and its concerns.
