Wiesbaden Volleyball Club (VCW)

Volleyballclub Wiesbaden was founded on January 1, 1977 as a merger of the volleyball departments of TV Biebrich, Eintracht Wiesbaden and TuS Dotzheim.

At the time, the Biebrich women were eligible to play in the Bundesliga, which was taken over by Volleyballclub Wiesbaden. It played in the first division until 1983 and achieved fourth place in the 1979/80 season as its best result. With the exception of the 1998/99 season (regional league), the volleyball club then played continuously in the 2nd Bundesliga South from 1984-2004. Since being promoted to the Bundesliga again in 2004/05, the first volleyball team has been playing in the highest German volleyball class with an upward trend. After finishing in 8th and 7th place, the team achieved its best result to date in the 2006/07 season with 4th place.

Volleyballclub Wiesbaden has developed into an almost purely women's sports club. In addition to six women's teams, there are 15 youth teams and only one mixed team. The greatest successes were celebrated by the female B youth team, who became German champions in 1984, and the senior women, who won this title in 1998/1999.

Volleyballclub Wiesbaden has around 250 members (as of 2015). Since September 2014, home matches have been played in the new sports hall at Platz der Deutschen Einheit, which is also used by the Elly Heuss School.
