City Museum on the Market (SAM)

In September 2016, the Stadtmuseum am Markt (SAM) opened its permanent exhibition in the Marktkeller. Previously, the so-called Stadtmuseum project office had used exhibition rooms in Friedrichstraße and Ellenbogengasse ("Schaufenster Stadtmuseum"). A planned new museum building on Wilhelmstraße could not be realized.

Since then, the Nassau Antiquities Collection, which was returned to municipal ownership in 2010, has been a central component of the City Museum, which also presents selected items in the Marktkeller. The city museum also has a collection on the history of television. The new exhibition on the city's history ("Wiesbaden's Favorite Pieces") focuses on the themes of "Wiesbaden as a bathing city" and the city as a political center.

The work of the Stadtmuseum is supported by the "Förderverein Stadtmuseum Wiesbaden e.V.", which was founded in 2003.
