Schmidt, Wilhelm Georg
Schmidt, Wilhelm Georg
Master tinsmith, President of the Chamber of Crafts, Reich crafts leader
Born: 05.03.1900 in Wiesbaden
died: 29.08.1938 in Berlin
Schmidt passed his master craftsman's examination in Wiesbaden in 1922 and set up his own business in 1925. After joining the NSDAP in 1923, he was one of the founders of the Wiesbaden NSDAP local group, which was established on March 30, 1926, and held the office of local group leader (later local group leader) until 1927. In September 1932, Schmidt held the position of managing director and propaganda director of the party. In 1933, he was appointed President of the Wiesbaden Chamber of Crafts. In January 1934, he became Reichshandwerksführer and President of the "Reichsstand des Deutschen Handwerks". In this role, Schmidt was primarily concerned with bringing the chambers of skilled crafts into line and restructuring the organizations and training system of the skilled crafts sector.
In addition to his function as Reichshandwerksführer and "Reichsstand" president, Schmidt held various other offices, which he resigned in November 1936 - apparently for health reasons.
