Sandberger, Heinrich Guido Emanuel

Sandberger studied natural sciences in Marburg, Bonn, Berlin and Heidelberg from May 1839 and obtained his doctorate. From 1841-43 he was a collaborator at the grammar school in Weilburg, then a teacher. In 1842 he became a member of the Nassau Association for Natural History. From fall 1844 he was a candidate at the Pädagogium in Wiesbaden, then 1845-47 collaborator at the newly founded Gymnasium, since 1847 at the Realgymnasium in Wiesbaden. From 1853-61 he served as dean of this school. During this time he was on the board of the Nassau Natural History Society for several years.
In addition to numerous geological and zoological works, some in collaboration with his brother Fridolin Sandberger, he published "Übersicht über die naturhistorische Beschaffenheit des Herzogthums Nassau" and "Vergleichende Beiträge zur Fauna der Säugethiere und Vögel des Herzogthums Nassau" in 1857. He was a member of several state examination commissions and in 1849-51 was the teacher of Princess Sophie, the youngest daughter of Duke Wilhelm, who became Queen of Sweden and Norway in 1872.
