Press Club Wiesbaden (PCW)
Founded in March 1989 by editors, press spokespersons and entrepreneurs, the Presseclub Wiesbaden (PCW) is regarded as a top address for dialog between journalists, media professionals and representatives from politics, business and culture not only in Wiesbaden, but also beyond the borders of the Rhine-Main region.
Regular Jourfixes, to which politicians are invited, as well as experts from business, science and cultural life, serve to exchange information and opinions. The media lounge, which is held twice a year and to which external guests are also admitted, ensures exciting, sometimes very controversial discussions. According to its statutes, the PCW is committed to promoting an international outlook, tolerance in all areas, culture and international understanding. Lectures and seminars as well as trips to national and international destinations serve this purpose. The PCW is recognized as a non-profit organization.
Its 288 members (as of 2016) are divided into personal members, including full-time journalists, freelance publicists, marketing, press and public relations staff from publishing houses and other companies, as well as guest members who have a professional connection to the press, radio and television. Corporate membership is open to business enterprises, political bodies in the legislative and executive branches, political parties, chambers and associations. The supreme body is the General Assembly, which meets once a year and elects the Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Honorary President was the first Club Chairman Gustav A. Schaeling (1989-92, died 2015), Honorary Chairman his successor Hilmar Börsing (1992-2010). Stefan Schröder has led the PCW since 2010. The club is based in the Villa Clementine.
