Notices of the Nassau Society for Natural History

The Mitteilungen des Nassauischen Vereins für Naturkunde, first published in October 1977, were initiated by the then editor of the Jahrbuch des Nassauischen Vereins für Naturkunde, Prof. Fritz Kutscher. He wanted to promote the exchange of ideas among the members of the association. It certainly also played a role that the yearbooks of the association should become "leaner". The Mitteilungen des Nassauischen Vereins für Naturkunde were initially published twice, but since 2009 only once a year and from 2010 onwards, some of them have only been published digitally.

Despite all the changes to the external presentation and layout, the Mitteilungen des Nassauischen Vereins für Naturkunde have remained true to their original purpose. They provide information about the life of the association, review specialist books, report on new fossil finds, draw attention to collections and exhibitions and invite people to visit museums. Great importance is attached to informing members about new events in the natural sciences (mainly botany, geology and zoology). Recently, nature, environmental and climate protection have also become increasingly important topics.
