Interreligious dialog

In recent decades, the Christian churches have developed a culture of dialog with one another and defined the framework for this in the Charta Oecumenica adopted in 2001. This culture is also sought in relation to the Jewish community . The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation not only promotes Christian-Jewish dialog through the nationwide Week of Brotherhood at the beginning of March, but also offers opportunities to learn about Judaism, Jewish culture and the history of anti-Semitism. On the Jewish side, the Lehrhaus provides information about Jewish culture and the Jewish faith.

The ecumenical culture of dialog also has an impact on Christian-Islamic dialog: Christian and Islamic communities are beginning to take notice of each other with reciprocal invitations, discussion seminars, youth encounters, church and mosque visits. The 2004 integration agreement between the city of Wiesbaden and the members of the Wiesbaden Islamic Community Working Group has set a positive example. The churches are also involved in the necessary integration work. The interfaith city tours offered by church and public educational institutions provide access to Christian and Islamic immigrant communities as well as the Jewish community.
