Hessian State Office for Land Management and Geoinformation (HLBG)
On August 12, 1947, the Hessian Ministry of Finance founded the Hessian State Surveying Office as a central authority of the Ministry, which was housed in a former building of the Nassauische Blindenfürsorge e.V. in Wiesbaden and is still based in Schaperstraße today. In later reform stages, the authority moved to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
On 01.01.2005, the Hessian Administration for Land Management and Geoinformation (HVBG) was created as a special authority in its current form as part of an administrative reform. It comprises the State Office for Land Management and Geoinformation in Wiesbaden and seven offices for land management (ÄfB), which provide the range of services of the local administration.
As the higher authority, the HLBG is responsible for the areas of real estate cadastre, land surveying, land consolidation, geodata infrastructure and real estate valuation. By performing its range of tasks, the HVBG creates basic infrastructural functions for economic and ecological development in Hesse.
