Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Police and Administration (HfPV)
The Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Police and Administration (HfPV) was a state-run, internal university for the civil service and the corresponding service sector in Hesse within the remit of the Ministry of the Interior. It goes back to the University of Applied Administrative Sciences founded in 1980. Since 01.01.2011, it has been called the Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Police and Administration and was merged into the Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Public Management and Security when it was founded.
It was a so-called dual university, which combines theoretical studies and practical work experience. The HfPV had a decentralized structure with departments in Kassel, Giessen, Mühlheim and Wiesbaden. The central administration and the Wiesbaden department are housed in Kohlheck, Schönbergstraße 100, at the same location as the Hesse Police Academy.
The HfPV offered four undergraduate Bachelor's degree courses for the police and administration departments. For a number of years, there had been sports support groups at the police faculty to promote top-class sport. The HfPV was awarded the title of "University of Excellence 2009" by the German Olympic Sports Confederation. Other focal points of the HfPV were demand-oriented further education and training measures, a Master's degree course in administration and the implementation of application-related research projects.
In the 2014/15 winter semester, 2,059 men and women studied at the HfPV, 1,385 in the Faculty of Police and 674 in the Faculty of Administration.
