Hane came from a pastor's household. He completed his training as an architect at the building school in Karlsruhe. He lived in Wiesbaden from 1858. He initially worked as an architectural draughtsman on the construction of the Marktkirche. From 1864 he was assistant to the city architect Alexander Fach. In 1873/74, he himself held the office of master builder of Wiesbaden. He then worked as a freelance architect. The plans for the trade school in Wellritzstraße go back to him. He was a member of the board of the local trade association for many years.
