Fresenius, daughter of Remigius Ludwig Fresenius, trained as a chemical technician at the Fresenius Chemical Laboratory after graduating from high school and worked there as a teaching assistant from 1939.

After the Second World War, she played a decisive role in rebuilding the Fresenius Chemical Laboratory and the Fresenius Chemical School. Together with her brother Wilhelm Friedrich Nils Remigius Fresenius, she took over the management of the chemistry school during the reconstruction years.

Fresenius was particularly committed to the vocational training of graduates of the chemistry school and a regulated transition to university studies; she was also chairwoman of the Wiesbaden district of the "German Association of Professional Women".
