The leisure and culture park in Salzbachtal behind the main railway station was opened in 2009. Beach volleyball courts, children's play equipment and a skating area offer opportunities for a wide range of leisure activities. The entire area has a harmonious, relaxed park character thanks to its planting of mainly native trees.

The Schlachthof cultural center, the creative factory, the German Film House of the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation and a skater hall are located on the site. The listed water tower of the former slaughterhouse, built in 1897-99, bears witness to the industrial history of this location in Salzbachtal and has become a landmark. A memorial inaugurated in 2010 south of the slaughterhouse commemorates the deportation of Wiesbaden's Jews, a place of contemplation that stands in stark contrast to the lively scene of the leisure and culture park.

In the near future, the content and design of the southern part of the leisure and culture park will be further developed.
