FLUXEUM

The word originated from the intersection of FLUXUS and MUSEUM. On May 1, 1986 - parallel to the International May Festival in Wiesbaden - the FLUXEUM was opened in the Catholic church in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim, which was purchased by art collectors Ute and Michael Berger in 1977.

It was, as it were, a depot for the relics of the many exhibitions, actions and performances that took place there as part of HARLEKIN ART. In addition, installations, objects and multiples from her extensive collection, which had been shown at the Museum Wiesbaden in 1984, were specially designed for the church.

The focus was on Marcel Duchamp's "Boîte-en-Valise" ("The Box in the Suitcase"), which he assembled in 1938-1941/42 as a "portable museum" with 68 reproductions of his works on a reduced scale, before the suitcase was relocated by the Galerie Arturo Schwarz in Milan (1955-1968). Duchamp's influence on 20th century art ranges from Dadaism and neo-Dadaist movements after 1945 to concept art and aleatoric music. The FLUXEUM existed until 1990.
