Dacho
The "Dachorganisation Wiesbadener Karneval 1950 e.V." emerged from a loose association of the eleven carnival clubs existing in Wiesbaden at the time. Today (as of 2016), 38 carnival, guard and traditional clubs from Wiesbaden and the surrounding area belong to the Dacho. Its main task is to organize the large Wiesbaden carnival Sunday parade. Since 1982, there has also been a children's parade on Shrove Saturday. Membership fees, donations and public grants - the Dacho has received an annual subsidy from the city since it was founded - are not enough to finance it. The Dacho therefore tries to raise additional funds through its own events. These include, for example, the Dacho stands at the Theatrium.
In addition to the parades, the Dacho also organizes the Saal-Fastnacht in Wiesbaden's Kurhaus. The first meeting took place in Feb. 1951, shortly after the association was founded. Like the parades, the Dacho sessions are among the most important events of carnival in Wiesbaden. Since 1997, the next generation of carnivalists have also been allowed to have their say at the children's and youth session "Kids in die Bütt" on Shrove Saturday.
