born: 23.11.1789 in Oberflörsheim

Alefeld was accepted into Nassau service as an ensign of Kurhessen in 1804. As an officer, he took part in the campaigns that Nassau had to fight for Napoleon as a result of its membership of the Confederation of the Rhine (1806/07 against Prussia, 1809 against Austria and 1810-1813 in Spain).
As a major, Alefeld fought in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, and in 1848 he was major general and commander of the Nassau troops operating against the insurgents in Baden and commander-in-chief of the Nassau contingent deployed against Denmark in Schleswig-Holstein.
Alefeld is said to have been particularly devoted to the wounded.
He is buried in the Old Cemetery.
