As an animal keeper specializing in zoo animal care, you have your hands full.
You are an animator, cook, cleaner, trainer, chemist and, of course, a friend. No wonder, because every animal has a variety of needs - from guinea pigs to brown bears.
Your tasks? Never boring!
- You prepare the food and feed the animals.
- You breed animals and raise them.
- You will carry out design and maintenance work around the enclosure.
- You assist with veterinary treatments.
- You will be the contact person for visitors on guided tours and comment on feedings.
Your training? Beastly wild!
- Start of training: September 1
- Duration of training: 3 years
- Practical training: Pheasantry of the city of Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab) and Frankfurt Zoo (opens in a new tab)
- Theoretical training: Paul-Ehrlich-Schule (opens in a new tab) in Frankfurt/Höchst
- Examinations: Intermediate examination in the 2nd year of training, written and oral final examination in the 3rd year of training
And you? A true "chameleon" - you adapt perfectly to every situation!
Must-Haves
- Secondary school certificate
- an internship in animal care (animal park, zoo or animal shelter)
- Health suitability for working with animals and people outdoors
