"Fête Terroir" invites you to celebrate regional wines at Biebrich Castle
After two successful events, the "Fête Terroir" invites you once again to an evening full of enjoyment, music and wine at the historic Biebrich Palace in Wiesbaden on Saturday, April 5.
Under the motto "Home. Soil. Wine.", the event celebrates the wine culture of the Rheingau with a varied combination of exclusive wines, culinary highlights and rousing music.
"We are expecting 650 guests again this year. After all, the mix of first-class wines, exquisite food and atmospheric music demonstrates the high standard of our local viticulture and gastronomy in the most pleasant way," says Christiane Hinninger, Head of Economic Affairs and Mayor. "The 'Fête Terroir' shows what our region is all about: tradition, passion and the art of creating great wines. Biebrich Castle will be the showcase of the Rheingau for the third time - a place for encounters, enjoyment and a sense of home," explains Sandro Zehner, District Administrator of the Rheingau-Taunus district.
Over 50 winegrowers from the Rheingau will be presenting their fine wines on this evening and inviting visitors to taste them. Visitors can not only enjoy the classic Rieslings for which the region is known, but also discover exquisite specialties. The wines are accompanied by a wide range of culinary street food stalls, such as the "Shooka" food truck with delicacies from Levantine cuisine, which perfectly round off the enjoyment.
Biebrich Palace will be transformed into a multifaceted world of indulgence for this special evening. Various terroir areas await guests on the first floor, including the "Terroir Blanc" with white wines and the "Terroir Rouge" for those who love strong red wines. Other stations offer a selection of Rheingau specialties. There will also be a counter for the "Rheingau Premiums", the wines with the "Rheingau Großes Gewächs" (RGG) and "Großes Gewächs" (GG) labels are the centerpieces of every winemaker. New this year is a counter with wines from Fair'n Green - an association for sustainable viticulture whose members include a number of Rheingau wineries. In the Rheingau, around 30 percent of businesses are already certified as sustainable - partly as a result of the cooperation with Destination WIESBADEN RHEINGAU, which is committed to this topic and supports and accompanies the businesses in the certification process together with TourCert.
A special highlight is the exclusive tasting of Rheingau top wines. A journey through almost six decades of Rheingau wine history - moderated by Dr. Daniel Deckers, lecturer in the history of viticulture and the wine trade at Geisenheim University. Exceptional wines will be served in a seated tasting with accompanying regional specialties. A young winemaker tasting will take place at the same time. Under the motto "Origin is no coincidence", committed young winegrowers will present their innovative and characterful wines. The tasting will be hosted by Katharina Höfling, former Rheingau Wine Queen and German Wine Princess. Both tastings are already almost sold out.
The Rheingau Wine Queen, Queen Lena Orth, will also be on site this year to host the champagne reception and accompany the young wine tasting. Once again this year, HIT RADIO FFH DJ Tobi Radloff will provide the exuberant atmosphere on the dance floor and, as an absolute live act highlight, the Urban Club Mini Band, well-known and popular in the Rhine-Main region, will perform hits from funk, soul, house, disco and rock.
The strolling ticket costs 65 euros and includes all drinks. The ticket for the young winemaker tasting for 79 euros also includes an exclusive wine tasting with snacks (duration: approx. one and a half hours). The Rarities Tasting for 99 euros includes all drinks and a seated tasting with selected wines and regional specialties (duration: approx. one and a half hours).
