Awarding of concept funding in the field of performing arts 2025
2025, the Wiesbaden Department of Culture has once again announced the conceptual funding for the performing arts. Ensembles and individual artists were able to apply until the beginning of March.
The aim of the conceptual funding for the performing arts is to support artists in the independent performing arts community in their professionalization. It is designed to run for two years and picks up where projects require a longer planning and implementation phase, for example addressing new target groups, professionalizing media work, digitalization, regional networking, founding new ensembles and more.
A five-member jury of experts selected the following application: Julian Moritz Buch with "KuKom - Netzwerk für Synergien aus Kunst & Kommunikation" together with Patrick Gerner (Besser Samstag), Francesca Herget (Music Women Hessen), Beate Krist / Manuela Pirozzi (Theater 3D), Frederic Ecker / Lilli Suckfüll (ARTNURWO), Mareike Buchmann (Ida Flux Ensemble).
Short description: Eight actors from different artistic production contexts are joining forces to pool their resources in terms of public relations, lobbying and networking, further training, administration and reputation. These are also to be made available for an even broader network in order to strengthen up-and-coming artists in particular, as well as those without institutional funding, and to help them to develop and grow artistically in Wiesbaden. In line with the cultural development plan, the aim is to work together and cooperatively and to unleash synergies in interdisciplinary projects in the fields of theater, performance, installation, film, music, visual and spatial art. Through the community of trades, the infrastructural work previously carried out partly on a voluntary basis is to be absorbed in order to prioritize artistic creation and the enhancement of aesthetic excellence. The network would like to establish structures for joint events, further training and public relations work, develop a common political voice in order to bundle lobbying work and reputation, represent interests in solidarity and secure further financial resources.
Wiesbaden should also become more attractive as a cultural location for up-and-coming artists in order to counteract the exodus to other cities and the associated loss of great artistic potential.
The jury consisted of: Antigone Akgün, freelance performer, author and dramaturge; Dr. Philipp Schulte, Managing Director of the Hessian Theatre Academy and freelance author and dramaturge; Anne Tysiak, Hessian State Theatre Wiesbaden, Director of the Young State Theatre; Mareike Uhl, ID Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main, Co-Artistic Director; Franziska Domes, Head of the Department of District Culture - Performing Arts - Music - Artistry in the Cultural Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden.
