Easter market from April 4 to 6 with 70 stands and a ring shuttle bus for the first time
The Wiesbaden Easter Market will take place in the city center from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 6. In the pedestrian zone, there will once again be arts and crafts, Easter decorations, accessories for the home and garden, culinary delights, lots of music and a varied program for children. A ring shuttle bus will be operating in the city for the first time.
"With 70 stands, this 23rd Easter market offers a wide selection of arts and crafts, textiles and decorative and unusual gift ideas. Visitors can also look forward to high-quality delicacies and culinary delights," says Christiane Hinninger, Head of Economic Affairs, highlighting the diversity of this year's market. "The Easter market is a crowd-puller - especially for families, who can enjoy a relaxed stroll on Sundays when the market is open. It also provides an important platform for local businesses." The open-air event is organized by Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM). The stands stretch along the pedestrian zone from Rheinstraße via Mauritiusplatz to Michelsberg.
A new feature is a ring shuttle bus for visitors to the city center on shopping Sundays. The service is the result of an initiative by Wiesbaden wunderbar and is free of charge for passengers. The shuttle bus runs from 12.30 to 18.30 during the opening hours of the stores in an approximately 20-minute loop around and through the historic pentagon. It takes customers from the city and private parking garages in the city center to convenient stops near the stores and then back to their vehicles with their purchases. "I am very pleased that we are able to implement this special campaign together and with the support of the Europa-Schule Dr. Obermayr, which provides the bus," says Mayor Christiane Hinninger. According to Hinninger, it shows that the various private and public players in Wiesbaden's city center are working together for a strong and sustainable city center.
In order to make longer journeys to the Sunday shopping event stress-free and climate-friendly, the mayor's department is financing the free use of buses and trains throughout Wiesbaden. Anyone coming to the Easter market by bike in a sustainable and climate-friendly way can park their bike in the bicycle garage on the Dern'schen site: The garage is guarded free of charge during the event.
Handicrafts, small pieces of furniture, silver jewelry, woodwork and leather goods are just some of the highlights "Artisans from the region, Germany and abroad will be presenting their work at a total of 53 stands. This year, we have added seven new stands with delicatessen and decorative items," explains WICM authorized signatory and organizer Simon Rottloff. The offer is complemented by twelve snack stands, including a new stand with Spanish churros on Mauritiusplatz, as well as three wine stands from the region. The fabric market on the Dern'schen site will also provide food and drink with a juice bar, a crêpe stand and a stand selling coffee and cake. A special highlight is the traditional large fabric market on the Dern'schen grounds, which takes place on Sunday, April 6, from 10 am to 6 pm. With around 100 stands, it offers a wide selection of fabrics, patterns and accessories for sewing and tailoring.
On Sunday, April 6, organized in cooperation with the Wiesbaden wunderbar advertising association, the stores and businesses in the historic pentagon will be open from 1 to 6 pm. "Sunday shopping makes the city center a lively and attractive shopping destination. It attracts additional visitors who want to enjoy the sights and flair of Wiesbaden as well as shopping. It offers retailers the opportunity to assert themselves as local providers against large shopping centers or online retailers and to increase customer loyalty," says City Manager Jens Ackermann.
Artists from the region will provide musical entertainment on the stage at Mauritiusplatz on all three days of the event. Among others, Rick Cheyenne, Andre Coluccelli and Two and a Box will be performing pop, rock and cover songs.
There is also plenty to discover for younger visitors: A children's carousel will be set up on Mauritiusplatz and in front of the Luisenforum. Walk acts with Easter bunnies will welcome visitors to the Easter market with sweet surprises, and on Sunday, two colorful, spring-like stilt walk acts will make children's eyes light up. On Sunday, Mauritiusplatz will be firmly in the hands of children between 11 am and 5 pm. The Biberbau promises lots of fun for children with its wooden spinning top workshop, and the little ones can make various wooden crafts. The popular face painting station will also be there.
