PreCollege for talented young musicians launched at the WMK and WMA

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a new offer for highly talented young musicians at the Wiesbadener Musik- und Kunstschule (WMK) in cooperation with the Wiesbadener Musikakademie (WMA): the PreCollege.

The aim is to provide individual and intensive support for exceptionally musically gifted children, teenagers and young adults, who receive a teaching package within PreCollege consisting of major and minor subject lessons, music theory/aural training and the opportunity to observe and actively participate in lessons at the Wiesbaden Music Academy. After graduation, graduates can have the work they have done in the PreCollege credited towards Bachelor's degree modules and receive a certificate.

In addition, various performance opportunities are part of the PreCollege, so that interested Wiesbaden residents can also look forward to seeing the young talents live on stage.

Every year, a total of five places are awarded to young musicians who must have passed a special aptitude test in advance. The current PreCollege includes Katharina Helmerich (flute), Yiqing Huang (piano), Luka Leikam (piano), David Savonov (guitar) and Veronika Svitlytska (flute).

Further information about the PreCollege and upcoming dates can be found online at www.wmk-wiesbaden.de and www.wma-wiesbaden.de as well as via the PreCollege representative Prof. Ulrich Meining.
