Traveling exhibitions in the town hall show outstanding projects
The traveling exhibitions "Universal Design" and "Inklusion durch Reizarmut" will open on Monday, April 28, in Wiesbaden City Hall, Schlossplatz 6 - three projects with a Wiesbaden connection were awarded the Hessian State Prize in 2024.
The traveling exhibition "Universal Design" will open on Monday, April 28, at 5:30 pm. The exhibition showcases outstanding projects - including three award winners from Wiesbaden. Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and State Secretary Manuela Strube from the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs will welcome visitors to the opening.
"We are delighted to be able to present the traveling exhibition 'Universal Design' in Wiesbaden," says Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende. "Three of the award winners have a connection to our city. The importance of universal design is of great significance for an inclusive society. It means not excluding anyone - right from the start."
The winners included:
- "IFB Gaming" - an inclusive youth project that promotes digital participation through collaborative gaming,
- "Wiesbaden blüht auf" - a creative urban greening project with social aspirations,
- and the "Silent Hour" by gemeinsam zusammen e.V. - a project that supports sensory-sensitive people through stimulus-reduced shopping.
"Hesse has been awarding the State Prize for Universal Design since 2013. Products and services that follow the principle of design for all are honored in the categories of young talent and companies. Universal design benefits all people, whether with or without disabilities. I am very pleased that the exhibition of the award-winning projects will begin in 2025 in the town hall in Wiesbaden," says State Secretary for Social Affairs Manuela Strube.
The traveling exhibition for the "Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2024" can be seen in the town hall until Friday, May 9, and invites visitors to be inspired by how design can contribute to social participation. Admission is free of charge. The exhibits are displayed in the form of picture presentations.
In the left wing of the foyer, the state capital of Wiesbaden is also showing the traveling exhibition "Silent Hour - Inclusion through Lack of Stimulation" until May 9. The exhibition raises awareness of invisible impairments and was developed by the initiative "gemeinsam zusammen e.V." and the city of Neuwied. The theme introduces the idea of the Silent Hour, which is to be launched in Wiesbaden city center from summer 2025.
The opening hours of the town hall are Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm.
