Start of the professional language course in early childhood education in Wiesbaden

After an intensive period of preparation and numerous consultations, the pilot language course for early childhood education has now successfully begun in Wiesbaden.

The course, which is being run in cooperation between the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), FRESKO e.V. and the City of Wiesbaden's daycare and childcare department, will start with twelve participants who will be optimally prepared for their educational work in daycare centers and primary school childcare in Wiesbaden.

"The participants already have a solid level of German, which makes them an excellent starting point for this specialized course," explains Maia Züfle, Head of the German Department at FRESKO e.V. "As an educational institution, FRESKO e.V. also has experience in teaching pedagogical terminology in German language support."

"A German level of B2 or higher is essential for the diverse requirements of early education, such as language support, the instruction of play and learning activities, communication in parent and development discussions and cooperation with external specialists," says Ivanka Mrše, Coordinator for German Language Acquisition at the Office for Immigration and Integration of the State Capital Wiesbaden. "We are very pleased that the long planning phase could finally be put into practice thanks to the outstanding efforts of FRESKO e.V. There were numerous organizational challenges in the run-up to the project, for example with regard to lesson times and time off for participants. The launch of this pilot project in Wiesbaden is an important step in promoting the integration and professional development of specialists in the field of early education and shows how important it is to combine language support with practical experience," Mrše continued.

The language course takes place two afternoons a week during working hours and focuses specifically on specialist language and topics from the field of early education. The aim of the course is to prepare participants to reach B2 level. After completing the course next year, participants will be able to prove their professional skills with a recognized certificate.
