1. the Neroberg
Wiesbaden's local mountain, the Neroberg, is a popular excursion destination and for really good reasons: There are so many attractions and activities on offer here that a visit can easily fill a whole day. It all starts with the ride to the top on the Nerobergbahn: the sun-yellow, nostalgic carriages are powered by water and transport you to the top in just a few minutes. The Opelbad, Château Nero, Impro-Sommer, Monopterus, Russian Orthodox Church and climbing forest await you there.
2nd Kurhaus Wiesbaden
The Kurhaus is Wiesbaden's jewel. It sits magnificently enthroned on Wilhelmstraße. With its various halls and salons, it is a regular venue for concerts, balls, receptions and conferences.
A walk through the foyer alone is worthwhile: under the huge glass dome, surrounded by statues, paintings and marble, you will get a lasting impression of what awaits you in the halls.
3. the Wiesbaden Museum
In addition to an art collection spanning nine centuries with works from the Old Masters, the 19th century, Art Nouveau and Classical Modernism as well as contemporary art, the two-part museum also presents an extensive natural history collection on over 7000 square meters.
Enthusiasm for the extensive Art Nouveau exhibition at the Museum Wiesbaden continues unabated: Now in its fifth year, the museum presents a remarkable Art Nouveau collection that brings the lifestyle of the "fin de siècle" to life.
The F.W. Neess collection, consisting of over 500 objects, is characterized both by the exceptional quality of the works and their great art-historical significance. Furniture, glass, ceramics, lamps, paintings and silver are united as a complete work of art.
4. marketplace
Your exploration tour of Wiesbaden should definitely start at the Schlossplatz square by the Marktbrunnen fountain. From here, you can see the City Palace, the seat of the Hessian State Parliament, the Market Church and the old and new town halls at a glance.
The Schlossplatz and Dern'schen grounds behind the new town hall are the venue for major festivals throughout the year, such as the Rheingau Wine Week or the Sternschnuppenmarkt, and above all the weekly market with over 100 stalls every Wednesday and Saturday.
5. wall alley
Mauergasse is a relaxed place to stroll, feast and store. Numerous smaller, individual and long-established stores meet a varied gastronomic offer designed by wine bars from the Rheingau vineyards, modern cafés and bars as well as cozy restaurants. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, after a visit to the weekly market, you can enjoy a relaxed "wine stop" in one of the Rheingau wineries' wine bars.
6 The Bergkirchen district
The Bergkirchenviertel is a charming residential area with many small, owner-managed stores with small-scale art, handcrafted artisans and lively restaurants. A tour is worthwhile to experience the atmosphere and lifestyle of this district: Walk up the Römertor to Obere Webergasse, past the Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme spa.
At the historic Bergkirche church, your route continues on the other side of the street down narrow steps to Nerostrasse.
7. the Kaiser Friedrich Therme
The magnificent Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme is located right in the heart of the city and offers you bathing luxury at the highest level. The style of an ancient thermal bath is particularly impressive here, with rooms decorated with columns and elaborate ornamentation. As a tribute to the Roman sweat bath on whose foundations it was built, you can bathe here without wearing textiles. In addition, a varied sauna landscape around the historic Irish-Roman bath invites you to linger. And if you are looking for complete relaxation, you are sure to find what you are looking for in the range of wellness treatments and massages.
8. the Biebrich Palace with its park
Biebrich Palace is one of the most important Baroque palaces along the Rhine. The magnificent three-winged building impresses not only with its architecture, but also with its location directly on the banks of the Rhine and the extensive palace park.
Today, Biebrich Palace is used by the Hessian state government for representative purposes and is also the venue for numerous conferences and celebrations.
9. the Henkell Freixenet sparkling wine cellar
The palatial and imposing headquarters of the Henkell Freixenet sparkling wine cellar has been enthroned in Wiesbaden-Biebrich on Biebricher Allee since 1909. The magnificent Greek and Italian marble foyer hosts the legendary annual sparkling wine night and the 4 seasons concerts.
