Pictures Museum Wiesbaden
The popular Museum Wiesbaden is the state museum for art and nature in the Hessian state capital.
Covering an area of over 7000 square meters, the two-part museum presents an art collection spanning nine centuries with works by the Old Masters, the 19th century, Art Nouveau and Classical Modernism as well as contemporary art, and an extensive natural history collection divided into four sections on the themes of color, movement, form and time.
The museum houses the most important international collection of the expressionist and co-founder of the artists' group "Der Blaue Reiter" Alexej von Jawlensky. Another highlight is the Art Nouveau collection of Ferdinand Wolfgang Neess, which has been on permanent display since 2019. With over 500 objects, it covers all genres of Art Nouveau, from furniture to glass, ceramics, lamps and silver to paintings and sculptures. The staging in period rooms makes it possible to experience the high-quality exhibits in the context of their time and immerse yourself in the 'Fin de Siècle'.
Changing special exhibitions and a varied program of events invite visitors to rediscover the Museum Wiesbaden again and again. Admission is free for all visitors on the first Saturday of every month; children and young people under the age of 18 can visit the museum free of charge on all opening days.
