Henkell Castle
Henkell Castle in the Hessian state capital is one of the most traditional sparkling wine cellars in Germany.
Henkell Castle is one of the most traditional sparkling wine cellars in Germany and one of the best-known and most renowned sparkling wine producers in the world.
After the company was founded in 1832 by Adam Henkell as a wine shop in Mainz, Otto Henkell, one of his grandsons, ran the business so successfully at the turn of the century that it became necessary to relocate.
From 1907 to 1909, the then still unknown architect Paul Bonatz Henkellsfeld created a building that is still unique today in the classical style. This property in Wiesbaden-Biebrich on the Rhine ideally met the requirements of representation and sparkling wine production. The magnificent foyer made of Greek and Italian marble is designed in the style of a palace.
