50 years of dm-drogerie markt

The RMCC was the venue for the dm drugstore's birthday celebrations for over 3,000 employees from the region.

As part of the 50th anniversary of dm-drogerie markt, employees from the region were invited on April 30, 2023.

Event overview

  • 63 coaches brought employees to the main entrance with a time delay
  • North Hall divided into two themed areas: Future World with interactive stations and stage program with seating in two segments

  • Production offices were located in the boxes of the North Hall with a direct view of the stage

Which rooms were used and how?

North Hall

Hall North consists of three segments that can be separated from each other. The hall was used in its entirety, openly, without dividing the areas spatially by means of a partition wall.

The first area was home to dm's future world. Here, employees were able to get actively involved and enjoy their time in a relaxed atmosphere. The entire area was decorated in dm's corporate design.

There were photo stations where employees could take photos together with colleagues against different backgrounds or, for example, record voice messages with good wishes for dm. The area had a networking character. Areas B-C housed the stage where the welcoming ceremony, employee awards and show program took place. The areas were fully seated.

Foyer Hall North also housed the warehouse for cases, cables, films, fabrics, trusses and shelving. The material from five 40-ton trucks was stored here.

Lodges North Hall

The production office for the show was housed in the boxes of the North Hall, with the advantage of direct access to the North Hall and a view of the stage.

South Hall

dm's industry partners were located in Hall South. Here, employees were able to gain insights into the history of the company, take part in competitions, test products and gather information about industry partners.

There was plenty of inspiration in the South Hall.

Terrace hall

The entire terrace hall was used for the catering. Here, 900 people could be seated, with a further 40 bar tables completing the offer. A total of 14 identical catering/food stations were set up along the window front. 10 dessert buffets and 10 fridges with drinks were distributed throughout the hall. The large terrace in front of the hall was also used.

Studios Terrace and Forum 1.1

Caterer Gaul used the studios in front of the Terrassensaal as a serving and clearing station. The crew catering was located in Forum 1.1.

The modern, bright building was a particularly beautiful location for our event, not least due to the optimal location of the RheinMain CongressCenter. In addition to the beautiful halls, the outdoor area of the RMCC was also a positive highlight, where our employees were also able to spend time thanks to the good weather. The catering was good and varied, and the catering area in the upper part of the RMCC offered enough space for our guests. The production offices were very well placed for smooth implementation and provided a good view of the event. All in all, we were completely satisfied with the choice of the RheinMain CongressCenter for our event.

2 questions for David Alt, Project Manager at RMCC

What did you particularly like about the event?

The event was organized FOR the employees, which was a recurring theme throughout the program. There were many tributes on stage, employees had their say and even the moderators and the band consisted of dm employees. It was a very nice atmosphere in the RMCC.

I also found the structures in the North Hall section unusual. A specially made wooden construction was used here, in which the future world of dm was set up.

How were challenges solved?

Challenges arose due to the large number of guests who all wanted lunch at the same time. We moved the catering to the entire terrace hall and set up various catering stations to avoid congestion. We also had to come up with an intelligent route and manage access to the hall.

In addition, many different trades and contacts were involved in the entire organization team, which had to be coordinated with each other.

On the day of the event, there were also a large number of people, the organizing team, the agency, security staff, hostesses, cleaning staff, technical service providers, caterers, etc., who had to be coordinated with each other so that everything ran smoothly and "noiselessly" for the guests.


Information on the anniversary

dm-drogerie markt is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2023 under the motto "Lust for the future" and has launched the dm Future Initiative to mark the occasion. The aim of this initiative is to engage people in Germany in a dialog on topics that affect both dm as a company and society as a whole with regard to a future worth living.

From May 19 to 31, customers were able to vote for one of two future projects in dm stores and online. dm is supporting a total of around 3,000 projects with more than 2.1 million euros.
