Worth doing
Culture is an important part of life in the city on the Save and Ljubljanica rivers. There are around 10,000 cultural events each year, including ten international festivals.
Ljubljana is not merely the central railway hub of Slovenia and the country’s most important economic centre, but also plays a major role as an international travel hub south of the Alps, for traffic between Italy and Hungary and from Austria to Croatia.
The city’s calendar brims with several thousand cultural events per year. The ten international festivals belong to the highlights, among them the International Summer Festival, the International Biennial of Graphic Arts, the Street Theatre Festival, and the Jazz Festival.
