Sponsorship of former residents of Carlsbad (Czech Republic)
Even before the 1950s, Sudeten-German groups made an effort to convince Wiesbaden to sponsor the town of Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary).
This wish was reaffirmed at the Sudeten-German Day on September 3rd, 1950, in Wiesbaden and at the Carlsbad Home Town Reunion in July 1951, also in Wiesbaden.
After a decision of the Sudeten Council Meeting on March 19th, 1953, the state capital Wiesbaden officially took on the sponsorship of former residents of Carlsbad who had been forced to leave their home by the events in 1945, the last year of the war.
