Fondettes (France)
The twinning between Naurod and Fondettes, the “Garden of France”, started in 1975 and has since then been kept alive by frequent friendship visits.
The initial impulse for the twinning between Naurod und Fondettes came from Gudrun Menant, who was born in Naurod and wanted to establish contacts with people from her home. Her husband Jean-Claude got the ball rolling with a letter to Fondettes’ Mayor Jean Roux.
On July 14th, 1974, the French National Holiday, a delegation from Naurod travelled to Fondettes. That same year, the community representatives decided to go ahead with the twinning association "Jumelage" Fondettes-Naurod. In May 1975, mayors Heinz Rieth and Jean Roux signed the twinning charter.
The twinning association Naurod-Fondettes e.V. was founded on September 7th, 1976, under the leadership of Karl Dyx. He was succeeded by Bernd Siebold (1980) and Christine Becht (since 2013).
