Worth noting
Flower exports form the basis of the city’s flourishing economy. Ghent is often called the “proud city” and is considered the veggie capital for lovers of vegan cuisine.
A special highlight is the Floralia trade fair, held every five years and a Mecca for gardeners. Horticulturists from many nations present their most magnificent plants and flowers and compete in an international flower grower’s contest. At the same time, the downtown area is clad in a green carpet that is planted with flowers and offers visitors inspiration for their own gardens.
Last but not least, Wiesbaden’s Belgian twin town enjoys an excellent reputation with lovers of vegan cuisine. There are more vegetarian restaurants per capita in Ghent than in Paris or London.
