Worth noting

A special highlight of the twinning is the "Kreuz-Neroberger Riesling" wine. It is made of Rheingau Riesling grapes that are grown on Berlin's Kreuzberg.

Even back in 1968, five Rheingau Riesling vines were grown in the Berlin district. 70 more followed in 2011. The grapes that are grown and harvested on "Kreuzberg" are pressed and bottled in Wiesbaden. The "Kreuz-Neroberger Wein" is served by the district administration on very special occasions, or presented as a gift.

The twinning associations Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg e.V. and Wiesbaden – Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg e.V. are very committed to fostering the relationship between the two communities.

From the very beginning, young people have been the declared focus of the partnership. There are regular, intensive youth sports events involving numerous sports clubs from Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Wiesbaden. Hiking tours are also a popular activity, as are art exhibitions of paintings, artistic hand-pressed prints, and photography, and choir concerts organised by the respective twin town. A unique aspect is that every year, trainee clerical assistants of the state capital Wiesbaden have the opportunity of interning with the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district administration.
