Building in existing buildings
Dealing with the built cultural heritage of a city is one of the most important tasks of urban planning and heritage conservation in European municipalities today.
The state capital of Wiesbaden, with its lively city center, the districts along the Rhine and the rural districts in the east of the city, is currently undergoing a variety of architectural and structural changes.
Urban planning has the important task of recognizing and accompanying these changes. The aim is to shape these changes in such a way that the special qualities and specific urban development profiles of the areas are preserved and new buildings can be integrated into the urban planning. The city has a wide range of tools at its disposal for this purpose, ranging from events and information on major construction projects to numerous advice brochures, local bylaws and customized development plans. The aim here is to respond positively to change and to formulate the conditions under which the city can be rebuilt so that new development does not cause an irretrievable loss of identity.
