Historic bridge ramp
The historic bridge ramp in Mainz-Kastel is reminiscent of a makeshift bridge after the Second World War and today invites you to linger. It is located in the Eleonorenstraße green area on the Leinpfad regional park route.
Connections between the two banks of the Rhine have existed for over 2,000 years. The Alexander Patch Bridge was built here after the Second World War. It served as a temporary bridge between Mainz and Mainz-Kastel. The seating steps have stood at the former bridgehead since 2014.
The bridge ramp offers an exceptional view of the Rhine panorama. You can linger here and enjoy the view of the banks of the Rhine in Mainz with the Electoral Palace and the Christuskirche.
Building a bridge - the central theme of the regional park station is a reminder of the historical connection between the cities.
Six information boards on the square refer to the history of the place.
