Umweltladen lends out e-cargo bikes
Cargo bikes are a practical means of transportation in the city centre for transporting children or heavy shopping. Those who use them travel from door to door quickly and without pollutants, promote sustainable and climate-friendly mobility and also do something for their own health.
More and more people appreciate this new type of mobility. This is demonstrated by the increasing number of cargo bikes on the streets. The environmental consultancy supports this trend with an e-cargo bike that can be borrowed free of charge.
The bikes are rented out in cooperation with the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club e.V. (ADFC) Wiesbaden. The bike is equally suitable for transporting children, parcels and boxes. Up to 60 kilograms can be transported in the transport box. Inclines are no problem thanks to the motor. People aged 18 and over can hire the bike. "Newcomers" receive an introduction to the operation and riding style from the environmental advice team before borrowing.
The cargo bike was procured in cooperation with the Department of Economics and Employment. This is because cargo bikes help to avoid traffic jams, reduce parking pressure and contribute to the revitalization of our city centre.
The purchase of the bike was triggered by the successful DB Rad+ program in Wiesbaden. Around 2,000 users of the app of the same name cycled more than one million kilometers in the Wiesbaden city area. This marked a milestone that the city rewarded with the purchase of the cargo bike.
