Environmental tip February: Save energy and reduce costs

There are many solutions for an economical and climate-neutral energy supply for your own four walls. This month's tip shows where you can get expert advice in Wiesbaden.

There are numerous ways to save energy and costs around the house and contribute to climate protection at the same time. Whether thermal insulation, optimization of the heating system or the use of renewable energies. But which measures are best for whom? Expert advice can help you develop a clear plan for your own four walls.

  • Climate Protection Agency Wiesbaden e.V. (KSA)
    Contact point for questions relating to climate protection, energy efficiency and renewable energies. The KSA provides support in the search for suitable subsidies and in selecting the right contacts for your own project. The service is aimed at people who own their own home, tenants and companies. The climate protection agency can be contacted on 0611 236500.
  • Hesse Consumer Advice Center
    The consumer advice center offers free energy advice for private households. Depending on the problem and personal needs, various consultation formats can be used, usually free of charge, by prior appointment:

    • Brief telephone consultation
      If you have questions about saving energy and renewable energies, you can contact the energy advice hotline 0800 809 802 400 of the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband e.V.). Experts will answer initial questions on the phone and, if necessary, make appointments for more in-depth advice. The telephone hours are Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm and Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
    • Brief online advice
      Inquiries by e-mail should be sent to the consumer advice center using an online inquiry form (see: https://verbraucherzentrale-energieberatung.de/beratung/online/).
    • Consultation with an appointment
      The 45-minute consultations are free of charge. Interested parties receive recommendations for action that are tailored to their specific concerns. The consultations take place by telephone, in person or as a video consultation. Mondays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wiesbaden advice center of Verbraucherzentrale Hessen e.V., Bahnhofstraße 36.       Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Umweltladen, Luisenstraße 19. Appointment: 0611 313600.
    • Advice at home
      If necessary, the energy consultants from the consumer advice center will come to your home for an in-depth consultation. You can register via the energy advice hotline 0800 809 802 400. Costs: maximum 40 euros

Most of the energy consultations offered by the consumer advice center are free of charge or cost a maximum of 40 euros thanks to funding from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. For low-income households with appropriate proof, the entire consultation service is free of charge.

  • ESWE Supply
    ESWE Versorgung offers its customers free, qualified energy advice: Online or on site. Advice is also available on the purchase of large household appliances, heating systems, ventilation systems or air conditioning units.
  • Electricity meters
    Electricity meters for determining individual electricity consumption can be borrowed from the Umweltladen free of charge against a deposit.
