Solar systems on private buildings

The solar register of the state of Hesse helps homeowners to quickly find out whether their roof is suitable for a solar energy system. It shows whether a solar power system (photovoltaics) or a solar collector for hot water and heating support is possible.

Electricity and heat from your own roof

The map shows the solar energy potential of roofs in Hesse. The coloring of the roof areas shows how suitable they are for solar installations.

The following information is available for each roof:

  • How many square meters can be used for solar power modules or collectors
  • How much electricity is generated
  • What CO2 savings potential exists

Around 35,000 buildings in Wiesbaden are suitable for the installation of a solar system. These offer over 2.2 million square meters of roof space and could generate around 290,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year. This corresponds to the electricity consumption of around 103,000 two-person households. This would save around 180 million kilograms of CO2 per year.
