Climate protection and climate adaptation

From CLIMATE_DIALOGUE to CLIMATE_PLAN

Climate change is also making itself felt in Wiesbaden: Heat waves, droughts and heavy rainfall with the risk of flooding are all part of it.
Wiesbaden has set itself clear climate targets. Our city is to become climate-neutral by 2045 - in line with the federal government's target. To achieve this, greenhouse gases must be significantly reduced.

The KLIMA_PLAN builds on the 2023 climate protection concept. The content was updated and adapted in the CLIMATE_DIALOGUE. City departments, businesses and companies took part in the process for months and contributed their goals and measures.

The KLIMA_PLAN comprises four fields of action: Energy, mobility, climate-friendly, sustainable urban and neighborhood development and city network. For each field of action, measures were defined, responsibilities determined and costs estimated. Implementation is starting now and will continue until 2045. The most important topics include heat planning, the renovation of schools and climate-neutral mobility.

Progress is regularly reviewed and documented. The measures will be adjusted if necessary. In future, measures to adapt to climate change will also be included in the plan.
