Climate protection and climate adaptation

Heat action plan

The summer months of recent years have shown that climate change has arrived in Wiesbaden. Heatwaves are becoming more frequent, longer and more intense, affecting our health and well-being.

In order to better counter the negative consequences of summer heat, a heat action plan was developed under the leadership of the Environmental Agency.

The heat protection measures benefit heat-sensitive elderly people, but also sick people, babies and small children, pregnant women and homeless people during acute heat phases.

The heat action plan provides information about heat protection and heat hazards and raises awareness among the general population. It is regularly evaluated and expanded to include needs-based heat protection measures.

Map of cool places

The map shows places that promise to cool you down on hot days in the Wiesbaden city area, such as

  • green spaces
  • fountains
  • Streams and bodies of water
  • Playgrounds with and without water features
  • swimming pools
  • Refill stations.

Some cool places are also included, which were compiled as part of a public consultation in summer 2023. The map will also be regularly updated and supplemented in the future. You are welcome to send your experiences with the cool places and other suggestions to hitzeaktionsplanwiesbadende.
