Environmental Agency - Active for biodiversity

The Environmental Agency is active in many places to promote biodiversity in Wiesbaden. As a member of the "Municipalities for Biodiversity" alliance, the Environment Agency is drawing up a biodiversity strategy for Wiesbaden. The aim of this strategy is to strengthen biodiversity in the state capital.

To this end, existing initiatives will be intensified and further activities launched, for example by creating habitat structures in residential and outdoor areas. Awareness of the importance of biodiversity is also to be raised and opportunities identified for individuals and organizations to contribute to the promotion of functioning ecosystems.

Wiesbaden already has valuable nature conservation areas such as Rabengrund, Rettbergsaue and Sommerberg. Other areas such as Kalkofen, Delkenheimer Kiesgrube or the Aussicht/Lerchenberg nature reserve are continuously being developed into oases of biodiversity that are home to various animal and plant species.

Strengthen biodiversity in your own environment

If you would like to strengthen biodiversity in your own area, you can find suggestions and help on the "Blooming front gardens" page. You can also receive financial support from the "Blooming landscapes and habitats in Wiesbaden" funding program. For example, for the creation and restoration of orchard meadows or the creation of small biotopes in gardens.
