Tradition meets modernity - Wiesbaden-Mitte
Wiesbaden's center combines historic squares, lively shopping streets, a varied cultural offering and green oases - a district with a lot of charm and diversity.
The city center
The historic ensemble forms the heart of Wiesbaden's city center: Hessian State Parliament, Marktkirche, old and new town halls, complemented by the Dernsche Gelände. The two central residential areas are located in the northern Bergkirchen district and in the southern city center, bordered by Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring, Bahnhofstrasse and Rheinstrasse. Both districts are characterized by spacious green spaces.
Shop and experience
The pedestrian zone and other shopping streets offer department stores and small stores for extended shopping trips. Attractive offers and exclusive stores invite you to linger. Major events such as the Theatrium, the Wine Week and the Sternschnuppenmarkt attract people from the entire region and beyond to Wiesbaden, making the district a popular meeting place.
Congresses and hospitality
The RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC), a renowned national and international congress and event center, is located at the southern entrance to the district and adjoins the Reisinger complex. There are also numerous upscale hotels in the city center. The many restaurants with terraces provide a Mediterranean flair, especially in summer.
History and culture
Above the pedestrian zone, the replica Roman gate is a reminder of the city's Roman origins. The hot springs, which are still used for spa treatments today, also demonstrate Wiesbaden's historical significance. Culturally, the district has a lot to offer: in addition to cabaret stages, the European Youth Circus is an annual highlight of international importance.
A highlight in Wiesbaden-Mitte
Wiesbaden has been one attraction richer since June 2024: the Reinhard Ernst Museum on Wilhelmstrasse displays almost 400 works of abstract art. The modern building, affectionately known as the "sugar cube", was designed by Japanese star architect Fumihiko Maki.
From the statistics
With over 22,000 inhabitants, Wiesbaden-Mitte is the fourth largest district in Wiesbaden.
