Auringen: Idyll near the city

Anyone who wants to go for long walks in the woods and fields after work will feel right at home in picturesque Auringen.

In the course of time

Auringen looks back on a long history. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1252. Thanks to its location at the foot of the Taunus mountains and close to important trade routes, the village grew into a pleasant place to live - an atmosphere that has been preserved to this day.

In 1977, as part of the incorporation of the six eastern suburbs of Wiesbaden, Auringen became part of the city of Wiesbaden and was given the status of a local district. Since then, the structure of the village has changed.

Coveted residential area

Before the incorporation, Auringen was still characterized by agriculture: in 1977 there were still 15 farms here, today there are only very few full-time and part-time farms. Manufacturing industry has also declined significantly.

However, with its green surroundings and yet central location, combined with fast transport links to the A3, Auringen has developed into a popular residential area. In the last 25 years, the population has increased by almost 50 percent.

Growing community

The influx of new residents has boosted club life in Auringen. The number and membership of clubs has grown significantly - clear proof of the positive development of the district.

A highlight in Auringen

A great deal of commitment to popular sport: TSV Auringen 1886 e. V. is the local sports club with over 125 years of tradition.
