The "Intermunicipal Comparison" statistics contain data on population, construction and housing, the labor market, education and tourism for the major cities in the Rhine-Main region.

In a comparison of the major cities in the Rhine-Main region, Wiesbaden's population grew the least between 2016 and 2021 with an increase of 0.7% - Offenbach had the largest population growth with an increase of 5.3%.

At the end of 2021, the proportion of detached and semi-detached houses was highest in Mainz at 71% and lowest in Frankfurt at 50% - Wiesbaden is in the middle, with 64% of residential buildings being detached and semi-detached houses.

At the end of the 2021 school year, 58% of school leavers in Darmstadt had a high school diploma, compared to 30% in Offenbach and 40% in Wiesbaden.

Foreign guests prefer Frankfurt: here, their share of all overnight stays in the hotel industry was 31% in 2021, compared to just 16% in Wiesbaden.
