School social work services

YOU are CALLED

Once a year, committed Wiesbaden companies open their doors to pupils from schools at Schulsozialarbeit Jugend. For some, it's a week to immerse themselves in the world of work. For others, it's a chance to get to know motivated young professionals.

YOU are CALLED

For twelve years now, the week before the fall vacations has traditionally been called "DU bist BERUFen". The idea behind it is to combine social commitment, professional orientation and the promotion of young talent. To this end, committed companies in Wiesbaden offer school pupils the opportunity to work in the company for a week. DU bist BERUFen is more than just an internship. This is because (in most cases) several pupils are allowed into a company where a special project is waiting for them to work on or in for a week. Be it large concrete letters that are poured to be erected in front of a school later, the planning and design of a small garden or the planning and construction of a model house that shines freshly painted and electrified at the end of the week. However, DU bist BERUFen is not just about craftsmanship, it also offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of a swimming pool with all its IT-supported processes, its (safety) technical challenges and the care of pool guests. "DU bist BERUFen is rounded off by the involvement of various daycare centers in the state capital of Wiesbaden as well as numerous industrial companies and businesses in which school pupils can get to know commercial, hospitality and customer-oriented professions as well as office jobs. All companies share the common idea of giving young people in Wiesbaden a (professional) future.

Around 100 pupils are now taking part in DU bist BERUFen. The number of applicants is almost twice as high. To introduce themselves to their chosen company, the students create one-minute application videos in which they introduce themselves and explain why they would like to work for this company. Then it is up to the companies to choose. There are around 17 companies that are continuously involved. Year after year, they invest a lot of time, personnel and money in preparation and implementation to offer the students a practical, varied week. A week in which both sides invest in the future: The pupils, by gaining professional orientation and considering whether this profession might be the right one for them. The companies, who have the opportunity to get to know interested and committed young people for a week. At the end of the DU bist BERUFen week, there is not only individual feedback for each student, but also offers for internships and apprenticeships, not to mention a big closing ceremony during which students and companies are honored for their commitment.

DU bist BERUFen is part of the WIESBADEN ENGAGIERT!

2025, the DU bist BERUFen week will take place from September 25 to October 1.
