Training paths to become an educator

Training opportunities

There are many different training paths to become a state-recognized educator.

PivA

The PivA is a three-year training course. You are employed by a daycare center and are taught at a vocational school for social work. You will receive a training allowance and have a regular vacation entitlement. The application period is from October to February.

Part-time training

The training lasts four years. Part-time model does not mean that you only work half days. This form of training has its name because you have fixed school days at a vocational school for social work, but also fixed days at the daycare center. You will receive a salary for your work in the daycare center that corresponds to the number of hours you work.

Lateral entry

Lateral entry is a three-year, paid apprenticeship. This training option is aimed at people who have already completed a three-year vocational training course (at DQR 4 level) in a different subject and have life experience. The technical college providing the training is the Adolf Reichwein School in Limburg. The application period is from October to February.

Social assistance

This is a two-year basic training course in social education and social care at assistant level. In the second year of training, theoretical lessons take place two days a week at a technical college for social services. You can spend the remaining three days of the week working in a day care center for practical training.

Nursery teacher in the year of recognition

If you have started your path to becoming an educator with a standard training course at a vocational school for social services, you can complete your year of recognition with us after the theoretical part of the standard training course. Of course, you are also welcome to do an internship with us at any time during your school education. Simply contact one of our day care centers directly on site.
